Arsenal may be forced to buy a midfielder after MAJOR injury concern😬

Arsenal may be forced to dip back into the January transfer market after rumours that Mohammed Elneny has suffered an injury.

The Egyptian midfielder may be deemed ‘not good enough’ to start by many but the context of his position in the squad is extremely important.

Arsenal is currently in an incredible position, they are five points clear at the summit of the Premier League with a game in hand over nearest rivals, Manchester City. It can be argued that if the Gunners are going to win the league, this is their best chance.

If you were to examine the squad and pick a key area where they are light, it would be the holding midfielder position.

The team is extremely reliant on Thomas Partey and if he did happen to get an injury, it would completely dismantle Arsenal’s title push. Although Elneny isn’t nearly as good as the Ghanaian, he can do a capable replacement.

Arteta hinted that the Egyptian had a ‘knee problem’ in his latest press conference.

“Mo is a player who never complains about anything. But let’s see. He had some issues with his knee that we are assessing at the moment.” he said.

If this is a serious injury then Arteta’s hand would be forced and they would have to sign a midfield replacement.

They have been linked with the likes of Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice but one thing is for sure, whoever they sign won’t be cheap.
