Arsenal identify their new starting striker for 2022/23… and he’s playing in the Premier League

Arsenal are very interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The lack of regular goal scorer in the Arsenal side has been a clear weakness for Mikel Arteta’s men this campaign. Eddie Nketiah’s recent form has gone some way to helping matters, but it remains to be seen if he can be relied on long-term.

You’d expect Arsenal to remain in the market for a new striker this summer, especially having missed out on Dusan Vlahovic back in January. The Daily Mail claim to know the identity of the player the Gunners are pursuing.

As per the report, Arsenal are expected to make a move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, irrespective of whether Everton remain in the Premier League. The England international is right at the top of their shopping list.

The report suggests that Calvert-Lewin’s arrival could result in the subsequent departure of Nketiah to West Ham. Were DCL to adapt to life at Arsenal without significant issue, Nketiah’s exit would be a small price to pay.

Calvert-Lewin has not been finding the back of the net on a regular basis this term, with Everton struggling to create chances. That doesn’t appear to have dampened Arteta’s desire to bring him in, though. This is definitely one to watch.
