(Graphic photo) Arsenal keeper suffers NASTY head gash after collision with opponent’s knee

Arsenal goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson has suffered a seriously nasty head injury while featuring for loan club OH Leuven.

Runarsson, who has six appearances in total for the Gunners, joined the Belgian outfit in a bid to play more first-team football than he would have at the Emirates.

He was already stuck behind Bernd Leno in the pecking order, with the big-money acquisition of Aaron Ramsdale not likely to have done his chances of becoming a starter any favours.

Despite the fact that Runarsson, is not playing in an Arsenal shirt, the club will still be keeping a closely trained eye on his performances and progression.

They will have been concerned to see him taken off the pitch and rushed to hospital after OH Leuven’s hefty defeat to Club Brugge on Wednesday night.

Runarsson was left with a very nasty gash on his head after a collision with a Club Brugge attacker. If you’re eating your dinner while reading this, best open a new tab…

Thankfully, Runarsson will make a full recovery and the majority of the damage has been aesthetic. He might be left with a lasting scar, though, because that cut looks deep!
