Arsenal secured the 3 points at the Emirates Stadium last night.
The Gunners were looking to bounce back from their shock defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend as they welcomed Shakhtar Donetsk to North London.
Arteta’s men started brightly enough and went in at half-time with a one-nil lead thanks to an own goal from goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk, after Gabriel Martinelli’s strike had hit the post and bounced back in off the unfortunate shot stopper.

From that point it was expected to be an easy night’s work for the Gunners but they had a superb save from David Raya to thank for the three points.

Overall the performance was not great and they will have to play much better when they face table toppers Liverpool on Sunday.

Hats off Martinelli, the boy played as if his entire career depended on this game. Defended and attacked on equal measure more than any other player on the pitch pic.twitter.com/ai2X8HQHgf
