The former Celtic manager Neil Lennon was on BBC Sport and believes Arsenal were too quick to let go their former manger leave North London. Arteta did struggle in his time with the Gunners, surely he had to go at the time, but the Northern Irish man sees it different.

“If you think of how he was vilified here, I don’t think he got enough time at Arsenal,” Lennon said.
“He was the main protagonist in all of this for me tonight. His experience played a part in Villarreal winning it.”
