Should Arsenal have had a penalty in the first half of their clash with Manchester City this afternoon?
The Gunners would have been well aware heading into today’s contest that they face an uphill task to get anything out of it, such is the immense strength of this Man City side.
However, Arsenal too have been in fantastic form, and even in the absence of manager Mikel Arteta, will have been intent on making a game of it at the Emirates.
Arsenal fans may have thought they were going to get an opportunity to take the lead from 12 yards after Ederson appeared to bring down Martin Odegaard in the penalty area.
The on-field decision was to award a corner, with the referee under the impression that Ederson had made contact with the ball after sliding in on Odegaard.
That decision was upheld by VAR, with there being no clear and obvious error, but did he ACTUALLY touch the ball before the man? What do you think?
Ederson clearly brings down Martin Odegaard, how is this not a penalty? 🤔#ARSMCIpic.twitter.com/88RpWypTUM
