Antonio Conte has rather bizarrely flirted with discontented Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku while discussing Tottenham January signings.
Lukaku has made the headlines over the past couple of days for his comments during a Sky Italia interview, during which he reveals he is not happy with life at Chelsea and revealed his desire to return to Inter Milan.
It’s not entirely clear how Lukaku has become unhappy at Stamford Bridge just a matter of months after what he described as a dream move back to his former employers, but there is now a question mark over his long-term future at the club.
Could that be a situation that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte looks to exploit? It seems improbable, but the Italian grew close with Lukaku during their time spent together at Inter Milan.

Speaking to the media today, Conte discussed the possibility of making January signings and Lukaku was brought into the conversation. While he didn’t say outright he would like to sign him, it’s implied…
Antonio Conte to @SkySport: “We need to talk about new signings, yes. When I was appointed, I was told that we would meet to talk about new signings. Now I have everything clear [on current team]”. ⚪️ #THFC
“Lukaku words? I feel great affection for him but he’s Chelsea player”.

Ultimately, though, Chelsea would have absolutely no interest in selling Lukaku to a direct rival, with Spurs unlikely to be able to bankroll a £100m transfer in January. This one is, almost certainly, NOT happening.
