Anthony Joshua has teased when he could next be stepping into the ring – and it doesn’t look as though we’ll have to wait long to see him back in action.
Joshua has not fought since being dethroned by Oleksandr Usyk back in September. The initial intention was that he would fight the former undisputed cruiserweight champion in their contracted rematch in the first half of this year, but the ongoing situation in Ukraine has complicated matters.
There has recently been intensifying speculation over who Joshua could fight in the interim, while he waits for Usyk to become available. Joe Joyce, Otto Wallin and even Deontay Wilder have been mentioned as potential opponents for the former unified champion, who will no doubt be keen to remain active.
While it remains unclear exactly who is next in line to have a shot at fighting AJ, he has claimed that confirmation of his next fight is not far away. Joshua claims that he will be stepping into the ring again “soon” and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of his upcoming opponent being Usyk.
Anthony Joshua: “When’s the next fight? It’s actually happening soon. I don’t wanna say too much, but yeah, the fight’s happening soon and I pray it’s the rematch [vs Oleksandr Usyk]. I won’t fight anybody outside of the top ten.”

Usyk is currently in Ukraine with the intention of helping provide resistance against the Russian invaders. However, he could be escorted out of the country in order to begin his camp and eventually fight Joshua. We’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be prepared to do that, all things considered.
