Alexander Zverev suffered a NASTY ankle injury during a match with Rafael Nadal on Friday.
Zverev and Nadal were going toe-to-toe, racquet-to-racquet at the French Open, a match which proved to be an absolute thriller for those fortunate enough to have got a ticket and everyone else watching around the world.
It was the kind of match which deserved to be decided by a moment of exquisite brilliance from these two fine tennis players, but sadly, it was a horror ankle injury sustained by Zverev which called time on the contest.
Zverev launched himself over to return a shot from Nadal and planted his ankle in a way which saw it fold in on itself. He screamed out in pain and was wheeled off the court with what appeared to be a serious injury.
Alexander Zverev just badly injured himself after a slide. In tears, the German must give up after a solid match. Shocking images. Extract from the French channel France 2. Nadal is shocked. #RolandGarros #Nadal pic.twitter.com/dpK6Mnbvrv

Needless to say, we hope that the injury is not as bad as it first appears and we see Zverev back on the court sooner rather than later…
