Adidas have confirmed that they have terminated their sponsorship deal with West Ham defender Kurt Zouma.
Zouma made the headlines for all the wrong reasons on Tuesday after a video emerged of his cat being abused. West Ham condemned their player’s actions, but he was still given the nod to start against Watford last night.
You could have been forgiven for thinking he was going to get away from it, but Zouma’s pockets have taken a pretty considerable hint following the incident, which has sparked outrage.
West Ham announced that they were giving Zouma the harshest possible financial penalty, a £250k fine, while Adidas have now terminated their sponsorship deal with the centre-back, it has been revealed.
Adidas: “We have concluded our investigation and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an adidas contracted athlete.”

Zouma’s actions in the video raised serious concerns over his character and his morals, so there really is no reason for a brand of Adidas’ size to have any interest in being associated with the player.
The former Chelsea defender has since had his cats seized by the RSPCA, who clearly had grave concerns for their welfare. It remains to be seen if he will face any further punishment.
