Premier League insist Roman Abramovich is STILL in control at Chelsea

Roman Abramovich yesterday passed over stewardship of Chelsea Football Club – but as far as the Premier League are concerned, nothing’s changed.

Abramovich released a statement on Saturday evening revealing that he had handed over stewardship of the Blues to the  “trustees of Chelsea’s charitable foundation.

That left many Chelsea fans, and rival fans alike, scratching their heads as they attempted to decipher who was actually going to be making the decisions at the club going forward.

Well, according to a report published by the Telegraph, absolutely NOTHING has changed following that statement from Abramovich, at least from the Premier League’s perspective.

They have received no communication from Chelsea or Abramovich issuing their intent to pass over control of the club to the trustees of the foundation.

As a result, as things stand, Abramovich is still the owner and decision-maker at Stamford Bridge. It all appears to be a faux attempt at distracting attention away from the club.
