Roman Abramovich’s parting gift to Chelsea could well be plunging the club into administration, if The Sun are to be believed.
Abramovich released a heartfelt statement revealing that he was going to put Chelsea up for sale in order to protect the best interests of the club, with the world turning the spotlight on Russian oligarchs following the invasion of Ukraine.
However, if The Sun are to be believed, it could just all be for show, with Abramovich ready to spite nations that have imposed sanctions upon him and refuse to sell the club to billionaire buyers from those countries – including the U.S.
That would cut out a considerable amount of those understood to have submitted bids to the Raine Group, so could lead to a longer takeover process and subsequently plunge Chelsea into administration.
If that were to happen, Chelsea would not only be cash-strapped but could also face a NINE-POINT deduction, which could see them fall out of the Champions League qualification positions. Thanks for nothing, Roman!
