A weekend of sporting finals awaits

The Tour De France begins this weekend in Utrecht while elsewhere around in the globe and in Ireland it’s crunch time, with an epic four finals to look forward to in our weekend of sporting action.

It’s gonna be a busy few days, better cancel any non-essential plans.

The greatest cycling race on earth gets underway in the beautiful Dutch city of Utrecht tomorrow afternoon. Leading contenders will include Chris Froome who won the title in 2013 but crashed out last year.

Irish interest in the race will centre on Froome’s team mate, .

Tennis fans are in for a real treat this weekend with some mouth-watering tennis matches on the manicured lawns of Wimbledon.

The first week of the tournament is coming to an end and traditionalists will be looking out for the real contenders to emerge from the draw.

Messi’s big chance for international success

The 2015 Copa America Final features an intriguing clash between Lionel Messi-led Argentina and host nation Chile.

On Saturday, July 4, the two teams will take the field in Santiago, Chile as they battle for South American supremacy and an automatic qualification spot for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

Double header of the weekend

The old firm clash of Cork v Kerry gets a terrific double header underway at 2pm in Killarney. Defending All Ireland Champions Kerry will relish the prospect of beating their old rivals, with Footballer of The Year James O’Donoughue leading their attack.

Current All-Ireland champions Kilkenny take on Galway in the Leinster hurling final. The Cats looked awesome against Wexford – but Galway are capable of a big performance.

Late night of the weekend – Women’s World Cup final

Hosts Japan are the underdogs with the bookmakers for the biggest prize in women’s football despite their dramatic victory over luckless England in the semi-final.

This America team is extremely talented and defeated the no 1 ranked side Germany 2-0 in the semi-final.
