Carlyle, a private equity firm out of America is now in talks for a ‘major investment’ into Manchester United according to recent reports.
It was announced earlier this week that the Glazers would be introducing a third and final round of bidding offers for the club, with the deadline set for the end of the month.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani are expected to both submit a final bid but a third party has entered the mix.

It is reported that they are interested in a ‘minority stake’ and have been in talks with Glazers for some time now.
Carlyle already owns multiple companies in the UK including RAC breakdown recovery service and the taxi-hire group.
Many supporters have been critical of the bidding process with Gary Neville hitting out at the Glazers after a third round of bidding was announced.
‘They’re making it up as they go along! Shoddy way to run a sale process.’ He wrote on Twitter.
‘They need to get out by end of May to allow the new owner a fighting chance to impact the next transfer window and get moving!’
Neville continued: ‘Taking it to a 3rd round (of bidding) is just classless. The market has obviously not given them the answer they want! It’s like they’ve made a pact to each other that they won’t go for less than £1bn each family member. (5 of them). If they stay in after all this it will be toxic!’
Finnish entrepreneur, Thomas Zilliacus, also hit out at the American family labelling the whole process as a ‘farce’ and decided to withdraw from the race.
He wrote on Twitter: “The bidding is turning into a farce, with Glazers giving no respect to the club.
“Jim Ratcliffe, Sheikh Jassim and myself all were ready to negotiate a deal to buy United. Instead Glazers chose to start a new round.
“I will not participate in a farce set up to maximise the profit for the sellers at the expense of Manchester United.”
