The Six Nations are planning on cutting the competition from seven weeks to six by the time the 2026 tournament comes around.

In a decision which will be deemed controversial, the Six Nations are planning on reducing the length of the tournament by eliminating one rest week, according to Sportsmail.

This will mean that the players will only have one week off throughout the tournament.

The players have yet to be consulted about the change and it will likely spark backlash over concerns of fatigue throughout the squad.

The change was reportedly brought up at a meeting between governing bodies while discussing the new ‘World League’ in 2026.

The proposed new format will see sides from the northern and southern hemispheres face off against each other over a two-year cycle, with a grand final deciding the winner, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.
