Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that Roy Keane slaughtered him for months after the Dutch striker showed up wearing a hairband.

The former Manchester United player joined up with old teammate Gary Neville on the latest episode of The Overlap to discuss their time together in Manchester.

Van Nistelrooy, who is currently the manager of PSV Eindhoven, joined the Red Devils in 2001 and would go on to become one of the club’s greatest strikers, scoring 150 goals over five seasons.

Speaking to Neville, the Dutch striker revealed that Keane killed him for months because of his hair when joined the club.

“Roy with my hair band, remember that? He killed me for four months”, said van Nistelrooy, who was speaking on The Overlap.

“Remember when I came I had longer hair… and I put it in in training and went to the dressing room with the mirrors and put the hairband in and he was like, ‘F****** hell.

“I’d actually had enough of it and I cut my hair… I thought after one month I wasn’t going to cut my hair for this guy. Two months, every day for two months and then after three months… I took my hairband off.”
