An Iranian-American billionaire named Jahm Najafi is reportedly planning a $3.75bn bid for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The news broke late Wednesday morning from The Financial Times that Najafi who is working with a consortium of investors is planning on launching a bid for Spurs in the region of $3.75bn.

It is reported that the bid could be presented to Tottenham owner, Joe Lewis and club chairman, Daniel Levy in only a matter of weeks.

Najafi who is chair of MSP Sports Capital is willing to put up 70 per cent of the price while a group of investors, likely from Abu Dhabi, would put up the remaining 30 per cent.

But according to SportsMail, the Tottenham owner Lewis, values the club in excess of $4 billion meaning that a sale at the proposed $3.75 billion may be unlikely.

Although Spurs have done well in the league they have always been handicapped in terms of financial capacity and unable to keep up with bigger spenders.

Their location coupled with their new state-of-the-art stadium make them a very attractive project for potential new owners.
