Police in Peru have seized 1,417 kilograms of cocaine worth £68 million which was branded with Lionel Messi’s picture and logo.
Lima’s anti-drug police unit have confirmed that they have seized over £68 million pounds worth of cocaine that they say was destined for Belgium before it was seized by officials when found in a shipping container.
Messi’s logo wasn’t the only familiar sign to be printed on the multi-million pound haul, some of the 288 packages discovered also had the king of Spain’s official seal on the front.
The use of Messi’s image is claimed to identify the product’s quality and to stop others from tampering with the product.
