Anthony Joshua Reveals His Next Opponent

According to the Times, former Olympic champion Anthony Joshua has named former foe Dillian Whyte as the man he’d like to take on next.

Joshua is fresh off his 19th professional fight winning by KO for the 19th time against 41 year old Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley on April 29th.

There is a clause for a re-match available in the contract from the Joshua/Klitschko fight but it seems the AJ will be lining Whyte as his next opponent.

Rumours of a British mega-fight between Joshua and former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury have been circulating lately but Fury is still without a licence and is currently training to get back onto shape after time out due to personal problems.

Joshua and Whyte met most recently back in December 2015, not long after Klitschko’s bout with Fury, with the match lasting seven rounds before Joshua brutally knocked out Whyte.

Joshua doesn’t have a clean slate against Whyte though as he was beaten by what looks like his future opponent when the pair were amateurs, which is where their rivalry stems from.

A rematch between the pair would be sure to generate great publicity and Eddie Hearn will be delighted with the news as it is he who promotes both fighters.

Before then though,  Joshua is likely to have to wait until next year for that fight as Whyte is scheduled to face Mariusz Wach in June at the O2 Arena which would put him in line for a world title fight should he be victorious.
